Types of Hair Colouring

    Balayage

    Balayage comes from the French word meaning “to sweep.” It’s a freehand colouring technique where lightness is hand-painted onto the hair, creating soft, natural-looking dimension with a more blended finish than traditional foils.

    Ombre

    Ombré isn’t actually a colouring technique — it’s a finished look. Balayage is often the method used to create it. Lightness is placed through the lower half of the hair and softly blended upward, creating that noticeable light-to-dark gradient while still keeping the transition smooth and intentional.

    Highlights

    Before balayage became the go-to, highlights were the classic way to get that sun-kissed effect. The result is a brighter, more defined look that isn’t as softly blended as balayage.

    Lowlights

    Lowlights are used to add depth and dimension to the hair. They’re perfect if you want to soften an overly blonde look, blend noticeable silver or grey hairs, or create the illusion of fuller, more voluminous hair. This technique uses deeper shades like caramel or chocolate brown for a more balanced, lived-in finish.

    Money Piece

    A money piece is a bold, face-framing pop of brightness that instantly lights up your features. Often created using balayage, it focuses lightness around the front of the hair for a high-impact glow without committing to a full colour service. It’s a low-maintenance, high-impact service.

    Full colour is an all-over application of one consistent shade from roots to ends. It’s a straightforward service that delivers a clean, even finish and is perfect for a complete colour refresh or total transformation.
